Last week, the City of Toronto used Hellohire to host their annual retail job fair virtually. In just 4 hours, 25 top retailers conducted over 1000 face-to-face interviews. Of the 450 attendees, almost half were able to secure a second interview with at least one employer. The Virtual Retail Job Fair was an amazing event sponsored by the Retail Council of Canada and Retail Insider, with opening remarks from Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson.
Young job seekers interviewed with hiring managers on the spot without having to travel. The youth were able to meet some of the biggest retailers in Canada from home or anywhere on any device.
Retail employers met candidates who might have otherwise been filtered out of their recruiting process. Hiring managers were able to look beyond the resume and easily assess critical skills for retail like communication, enthusiasm and personality.
The Hellohire team is proud we helped this group of young people find employment opportunities.
The following employers participated in the City of Toronto Job Fair: Adidas, Aldo Group – Aldo, Call It Spring, Globo Shoes, Altea Active, Banana Republic, Bell, Browns Shoes and B2, Distillery Restaurant Corps, Holt Renfrew, Hudson’s Bay, IKEA, Indigo, La Vie en Rose, Mastermind Toys, MEC Mountain Equipment Company Ltd., Pandora, Peace Collective, Princess Auto, Sephora, SlavinRaphael, Staples Canada, The Source, Tim Hortons, Tommy Hilfiger, Wildly Delicious, Wireless DNA, and Yummi Candles.
This was the first time the retail job fair went virtual and with results like this, it won’t be the last.
